Discount Offer at Candy Cane Lane!

I just finished painting this dresser for a friend. I apologize for not showing a "before" pic...I simply forgot to take one but I think it turned out great and will look fabulous as an entry table in her newly remodeled home. I also decided to make a few more signs for the holiday season...I know its late but I couldn't resist!
And here are two more additions to my corner at Candy Cane Lane. A chandelier, and the rocker with a cushion stamped. Sewing this reminded me of how much I don't like to do it :) Oh well, maybe it will sell better this way.
And speaking of selling and Candy Cane Lane...they will be open every day this week and so I have decided to offer a 10% discount on everything and a 25% discount on all remaining holiday board signs. This offer is only good on Monday (Dec. 20th) and Tuesday (Dec. 21)so hurry in and claim your item before it's gone :)
Thanks for all the support and encouragement! I hope to see some of you there! Merry Christmas!

A little chair charm and some news!

Two words: Shabby-Chic. I just love this finish on furniture, particularly older pieces and that is why I chose to finish these two chairs like this... One is ivory and the other white.
Here's some closer looks. Using small scraps of left over fabric I had I was able to give the seats a facelift as well. I'm pricing this one at $35.00
This one below I'm giving to my baby sis to go in her soon to be nursery!
I also have some exciting news to share: I will now be selling items at our local Candy Cane Lane Boutique during the remainder of the holiday season. For you locals it is across from the airport and open only Thursdays 3-8:00, Friday 3-8:00, and Saturday 8-3:00. Who knows you may see something you like I haven't posted about :) not to mention the other great pieces from other vendors including, hair accessories, clothes, hats, and other decor items. Check it out!

More signs for sale and a WINNER!

I thought I would make a few more drawer face signs for the holiday. If you see one you like let me know and I can personalize the message (lettering) for you :) Here's the one I did for my mom :) This one is painted in an Italian Olive color with bird patterned scrap book paper. ($18.00 completed)
Another holiday style in red this time. I thought "Oh Holy Night" or "Noel" again would work well on this. I also like "Let it Snow" ($18 completed)

On this one I used an old ivory vintage wall paper and painted it to look silver instead. It would look great with a last name written on the left side and an "Est. 20xx" on the right. (18.00 completed)

This one I did for a friend :) Good thing she doesn't get on blogs much :)

Feeling a little french? Love this one! ($10.00)

And last but not least this one, which I think I will keep to myself :)
And there you have the many faces you can create from old broken drawer faces. Hope these bring a smile to your face! And now for the winner...
First of all, I just want to thank all of you for leaving your comments andI have to admit I was surprised to see so many "NO GLAZE" votes so you see I do need your input. Onto the winner: Comment Number 27: Megi Jones, you have just won the blog giveaway! Please let me know which item you would like and I will deliver it to you :) As for the rest of you, I will be doing regular giveaways from here on out so don't give up just yet ;)

How far can you stretch $10?

I was working on something for my moms birthday today and got thinking about my projects and how you can make so much out of just about anything if you are creative enough to think outside of the box. Remember this $10 dresser I bought several months ago? It was missing a drawer and several were hanging by a thread. Good thing I was not looking for a dresser, eh? Instead I did a little demo and then some putting back together of sorts and made a long entry table for my home...but that's not all...

I'm using the faces to make different one of a kind signs to hang or sit as decor like this one below I did today for my mom using a little paint, scrapbooking paper and mod podge.

and last but certainly not least I am reusing the hardware for the little red dresser/chest I have been recently posting about here. Have you priced out hardware lately? Not cheap! So there you have it, sometimes ten dollars really can go a long way! I'll be back wednesday to post a winner from the giveaway, enjoy whats left of the weekend everyone!

Shabby Antique Mirror.

I'm posting backwards today, so here's a closeup shot of the aged, shabby finish I chose for this piece... here it is larger. Yes, it was originally a glass cabinet door that my dad gave me.
Showing the antique mirror a little better with a stocking cap hanging on the knob for fun.
And here is what it looked like "before". I ended up using "Looking Glass" paint from Krylon for this project to make the glass function as a metallic like mirror. It was my first time using it and I love it! You must see this piece in person to truly appreciate it. I am asking $25 for it. I also have another one unfinished so if you want the same thing in a different color/finish let me know, I think they would make great gifts for the shabby decor lovers out there.
As always email me at lemonsqueezing@gmail.com. and don't forget to vote on the entry table/chest below for a chance to win a giveaway next wednesday! Also several people are asking if I am selling it, and yes I am ($100.00) The first person to contact me takes it home. Have a great week everyone!

A vote, and a (local) GIVEAWAY!!!

update: here is the old hardware I am reusing for this piece...love it!
I just picked up this antique dresser/table yesterday at a thrift. I liked the lines but it was in pretty sad shape. I took the plunge and bought it anyway. Here's a shot of one of the sides falling apart and bowed out on the side.

And here it is now with some added love and labor. My friend Alyssa gave me the bead board scraps from her past home reno and the rest I used what supplies I had on hand. It still needs some hardware and of course your vote....TO GLAZE or NOT TO GLAZE! I mean it this time, I truly value others opinions and so here's the deal: If you vote in the comments below you will be automatically entered for my giveaway. To have additional entries you must do one of the following: blog about it, become a follower, or post a link on facebook. So, if you do all four, you will get four entries, make sense? There are three options for you to choose from. Option 1: the painted side table that can be found here. Option 2: the black painted rocker (you will still need to provide your own cushion) found here.Option 3. One hour of my consultation services in your home free of charge :)

I will be posting the winner one week from today, on Wednesday Dec 8th. Good luck to all of you :)

Adding some personal touches...

Don't you think its the personal touches that truly makes a house feel like a home? It is for me and so I thought I'd post some I have been working on lately. I have been meaning to get this one finished for a few weeks now but still haven't :( Eventually I will have my other sons silhouette completed in the empty frame below, eventually ;) an old friend of mine sent me a link of some signs painted that she wanted to try...I liked them so much I decided to do some of my own for Christmas. Here's one finished below.
This wall is nowhere near finished but at least I have something hanging up, and just in time for thanksgiving too.

Here it is a little closer :)
If anyone wants a custom painted sign for Christmas or is interested in any others I have done please email me at lemonsqueezing@gmail.com and let me know! In case I don't get back here before the holiday Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Candy Apple Red...

yes, that's the new color of my dining table! Remember the old pedestal table I bought a few weeks back? Well, I just found a permanent home for it...mine! At first I thought it would be too small for our family of four but then I realized that one day it might be too small but for now it is just right :) and why not live for right now! So, I painted it RED, and added in my old twin headboard/footboard bench for the boys to share in the back. It really is so cozy and lends so much more space for foot traffic our small eat in kitchen. Now we are all loving the new look and feel of eating together as a family! And now you know why I am selling my old black table :)
Can't wait to doll this space up for the holidays...oh and pay no attention to the mirror on the back wall, it will be gone very soon and in its place something much more fun and eye catching ;)!

$5.00 chair revamp!

I have been helping someone with their livingroom for a while and needed a chair in one corner of the room. We found this one at a local thrift for $5.00 and I recovered it in a more luxurious fabric that would be a bit more kid friendly not to mention just clean! We needed to find something that would coordinate well with her existing dark brown leather sofa and love seat in the room. I gave her two similar fabrics to choose from... and here's the one she decided on.
And here's the chair all done! The best part for me: no sewing required (well at least so far, there's a chance that I may be making some extra throw pillows for the sofa with the leftover fabric, but we'll see)!!!

I can't wait to see it in her space later this week!

Tables For Sale!!

I tend to not get too personal on this blog but the past few weeks have been very difficult for our family due to some medical issues my husband has been having. To make a long story short, today we got some results back from a test that explains alot and also requires a surgery to correct (or resolve the pain away). I am so grateful for some answers and hopefully all will be well again. On that note, however, I have decided to go ahead and try to sell some tables to help pay for the impending medical costs. If you have been following this blog long enough you will have seen all of these so if you have please disregard this post...if not sit back, take a look and enjoy. Hope to be hearing back from some of you :) Red/Orange Distressed Coffee Table $75.00
Black Distressed Dining Table (no leaf) (3'x4') $50

Side Table $25
email me if you are interested in anything :) lemonsqueezing@gmail.com

Princess Chair Complete!!!

Okay so again, here is the "before" shot. And now it is perfect for the little girls bedroom it is going in, bright and cheery with a hint of chic :)
For this project I first ripped off all of the old fabric, then painted the frame white, and recovered it in this beautiful fabric chosen by my friend/client that coordinated with her 3 year olds bedroom.
If only I had a little girl :)

A long overdue post...

I feel like it has been forever since I did a post but with the past week I've had everything seems like forever ago :) Unfortunately I have no new COMPLETED projects to post, just some in the making. This divider was practically given to me by a friends grandmother. It was all brown when I got it but it is starting to look a little brighter. I believe it has some amazing potential! Stay tuned... I finished painting the little rocker (and by the way it is still for sale), but still no cushion :) If you want it without so you can do your own I'll sell it as is :)

Remember this little lady?
Well, she's not done yet either but she is getting very close. Here's a sneak peek...keep in mind she's not finished yet, I still have some trim to add and the cushion to sew (my favorite part :(, LOL)
and I do love the backside as well.

It's a good thing most of my projects are doable inside this week because the weather has officially turned nasty here :( Hopefully this weeks a better one and I can get some of these babies finished. Hold me to it would ya?

Finished End Table!

Remember this from a couple weeks ago? Well, my good friend Adele snagged this little piece up and asked me to paint it for her bedroom. She recently recovered and painted a chair and brought me some of the fabric to use as my "guide" in deciding what to do...we talked about doing the paper towel thing again but as I got looking at it I wanted to try something else.
Here's the fabric and the accompanying drawer faces. Pretty cool, huh. I distressed the faces a bit to give it a worn vibe but still coordinate with the chair. I know that photos don't always represent the true colors but in case you can't tell the fabric is a soft, almost baby blue color with a deep olive green. So, I used the same colors for the table and a flat black for the rest of it.

Because I used a stencil and spray paint this took no time at all and I love the results. I can't wait to see it in her space with the chair.
